- Are you a creative person?
- Do you work in fashion?
- Are you a graphic designer?
- An architect maybe?
Up till recently, if you worked in a creative profession, LinkedIn would be the last place on your list to showcase your work. With no way of displaying rich media, LinkedIn limited you to using third party apps such as Behance or Slideshare to do it.
Now this has all changed. LinkedIn are busy rolling our their new feature that allows you to display images and video on your profile. And it’s not just helpful to creatives…
For example, presenters, educators or keynote speakers can upload their presentations either as a video or in the form of a PowerPoint presentation. This gives your connections and any other LinkedIn users viewing you a “Sneak Peak” into what they would be getting from recruiting, or consulting your services before they have even met you. In other words, a more visual LinkedIn will bring your CV and profile to life!
The NEW LinkedIn feature allows you to:
- Upload or share slideshows or PowerPoint presentations
- Share YouTube videos
- Upload graphics or link to graphics on your website
- Link to more profile shots of you
Which in turn allows you to share your:
- Creativity e.g. graphic designer, architects, artists, performers etc.
- Images of yourself speaking
With all the evidence showing that rich media drives engagement, it was inevitable that LinkedIn would eventually include this feature in their profile (status updates already include rich media). They are clearly hoping to attract far more creatives to their platform.
However, this also a boon for existing users as it will enable them to give a much more rounded impression on their profile.
